Geothermal power plants, which use geothermal steam as their power source, are mostly situated in remote and hilly locations, often near volcanoes. The DIASYS Netmation system meets the special operation and monitoring requirements of such plants by providing monitoring and communication between the operator station (OPS) in a nearby office and the control unit in the remote power plant.
Conventional control systems have considerably greater capacity than needed; and therefore, communication infrastructures with an appropriate capacity had to be prepared. With the Mitsubishi Power-original communication protocol “Mitsubishi Power Card Communication” which is suitable for a low communication load, the DIASYS Netmation can achieve a remote monitoring and control system that use existing low-capacity communication infrastructures.
An operator station was built in the customer’s monitoring of about 100 km from the geothermal power plant. The operator station handles remote monitoring and control by using the customer’s microwave link for security.
